Our Luxury Ikos Dassia Review: A Door-to-Door Journey
As travel agents, every holiday is an opportunity to explore new destinations and experience different hotels, flights, and hidden gems. Our latest adventure took us to the stunning Ikos Dassia in Corfu, a destination that had been on our radar for quite some time. But as any avid traveler knows, the journey is just as exciting as the destination itself. So, come along with us as we share our entire Ikos Dassia review, from door to door, through beautiful hotels, riverside dining, and even a royal detour!
Day 1: Henley-on-Thames and Radisson Blu Edwardian
Our holiday kicked off on Wednesday, May 8th, as we left our home in South Wales, ready to embark on what promised to be an unforgettable luxury Ikos Dassia holiday. First stop? London Heathrow—but not before a scenic break in the charming town of Henley-on-Thames.
Henley is a place I visit regularly, but for Claire, it was her first time experiencing its peaceful riverside setting. We spent a lovely afternoon walking along the river, soaking up the atmosphere, and enjoying the warm sunshine. Lunch was at The Bull, a cozy restaurant with excellent food and a welcoming vibe. It was one of those perfect British afternoons—great weather, great company, and a great meal.
By 4 pm, we were back on the road, headed to the Radisson Blu Edwardian near London Heathrow. The hotel is every bit as stylish and comfortable as you’d expect, and check-in was a breeze. To our delight, we were treated to a complimentary room upgrade and a drinks voucher. The room itself? Spacious, luxurious, and ideal for unwinding before the next leg of our journey. I’d definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through Heathrow—it’s the perfect mix of elegance and convenience.
Day 2: Premier Inn, Planes, and Windsor Castle
On Thursday, May 9th, we woke up bright and early, refreshed and ready for the day ahead. Breakfast at the Radisson Blu Edwardian was exactly what we needed—a hearty, cooked breakfast that set us up perfectly for what was going to be a busy day.
After breakfast, we packed up and made our way to our next hotel, the Premier Inn by Terminal 4 Heathrow. Now, we like to experience multiple hotels whenever we travel—it’s a great way to get a feel for different options and share genuine recommendations with our clients. The Premier Inn was just a quick 15-minute drive from the Radisson Blu, and when we arrived, we were greeted by their friendly staff. We were early—much earlier than the usual check-in time—but the staff went out of their way to help us out. We grabbed a coffee at the Costa in the lobby, and before long, they had sorted us a room.
And what a room it was! I’m a bit of a plane enthusiast, so naturally, we requested a runway view—and we weren’t disappointed. Watching the planes take off and land from our window was an unexpected highlight. The room itself was clean, comfy, and had everything we needed for a short stay—Premier Inn always knows how to deliver on the essentials.
With our bags dropped off, it was time for some exploring. We headed over to Windsor, which neither of us had visited before. The original plan was to grab some lunch, but as soon as we saw Windsor Castle, we decided to spend our afternoon there instead. It was absolutely worth it! Walking through the historic halls and lush grounds of the castle, we even enjoyed a guided tour on an iPod-style device that really brought the history to life.
The weather was perfect—mid 20s and sunny—so after hours of exploring the castle, we treated ourselves to ice cream and coffee from a café on Windsor’s main street. We ended the day back at the Premier Inn, where we enjoyed dinner at the hotel restaurant. The food was lovely, and although we opted out of the meal deal—which included breakfast the next morning—because we had a lounge booked at Heathrow Airport, I’ll admit I regretted that decision when the early morning came! More to come on this later…
Day 3: Heathrow Terminal 5, British Airways, and Arrival at Ikos Dassia
Friday, May 10th started bright and early with a 10 AM flight from Heathrow Terminal 5. We always choose meet and greet parking when driving to the airport—it’s a lifesaver for the small extra cost. Stress-free parking, and within minutes, you’re inside the terminal. We handed over our keys at the meet and greet desk and were on our way. If you’re planning an upcoming trip, we can help you with booking your hotel and parking through C&M Travel.
Once in Terminal 5, we dropped off our bags and made our way through security. Surprisingly, security was a breeze—hardly any queues—and within 10 minutes, we were through. Of course, Claire managed to set off the alarms (it happens every time!), and I had to send my DJI Mini 3 Pro drone back through the scanner because I forgot to take it out. Oops!
With security cleared, we headed straight for the Club Aspire Lounge. Thanks to our Lounge Key, we got in for just £24 per person, which is an absolute steal. Lounges are our go-to choice when flying as it saves on breakfast and drinks. I’m not a huge drinker, but a pint before a holiday just hits different, and Claire loves a glass of wine to get in the holiday spirit.
The iPad came out, and we settled in to watch Clarkson’s Farm on Amazon Prime while grabbing some coffee and breakfast. Unfortunately, the coffee left a lot to be desired (not sure I’d even call it coffee), and the breakfast was pretty tasteless—not what I expected. But hey, the waffle maker was a win, and we got through a few episodes of Clarkson before being called to the gate.
When it was time to board, we made the long trek across Terminal 5 to the gate (isn’t it always on the other side of the terminal?). We flew with British Airways and, while they offer a business class service, we decided to stick with economy and save ourselves £200 each way. However, we lucked out as the seat next to us was empty, so it felt like a mini-business class experience! The plane, a BA 737 NEO, was surprisingly spacious, much more so than other 737s I’ve flown on, which was a pleasant surprise.
Before long, we were airborne, and Clarkson’s Farm was back on the iPad. The flight was smooth, and I even got to check some emails and respond to a few clients thanks to the free in-flight Wi-Fi—always a bonus. If you need help booking your own holiday, you can start planning with us here.
The views flying into Corfu were spectacular, and the landing, while a bit bumpy, was smooth enough. It wasn’t long before we had breezed through passport control, grabbed our luggage, and were on the transfer bus to Ikos Dassia. There are a few transfer options available: a standard bus transfer (which we took this time), the Ikos private transfer, or a private taxi. The bus journey was around 30-35 minutes, with plenty of space to relax.
When we arrived at Ikos Dassia, even though we’ve been here multiple times, it always feels like the first time. We were greeted by the incredibly friendly staff, who took our luggage and welcomed us into the reception with fresh towels. We were then escorted to the balcony of the Sea Bar to complete our check-in while sipping champagne.
Here’s a tip: If you’re staying in Deluxe accommodation like us, you can pre-book all your restaurants and activities in advance. If you’re not staying in Deluxe, you can pre-book three restaurants, and the rest need to be booked once you arrive. We always take advantage of this and had pre-booked our dinners, Tesla experience, and spa treatments ahead of time. We can help arrange all of this if you book your Ikos holiday with us!
After check-in, we hopped on the golf cart, which whisked us to our room—just a quick 30-second drive away. Our room was 3012, a Deluxe Junior Suite with a private garden, and as soon as I got in, I couldn’t wait to get changed and hit the pool. Claire was excited to catch some late afternoon sun before dinner.
Dinner that night was at the Steak and Grill, our favourite restaurant at Ikos Dassia, and the food was simply incredible. I had a delicious steak, which you can see in the pictures (sorry about my photography skills—they’re a work in progress!). We even enjoyed a lovely bottle of red wine, which is rare for us since we’re not big drinkers. I may have also snuck in a pint or two (it’s a holiday, after all!).
After a long day of travelling, we called it a night and headed back to the room to rest up for the adventures the next day would bring.
Day 4: A Relaxing Day by the Pool, Spa, and a Taste of Italy
Saturday, May 11th started off perfectly. We woke up feeling refreshed after a lovely night’s sleep in our Deluxe Junior Suite at Ikos Dassia. For breakfast, we decided to head over to Ouzo, where we were treated to a delicious spread. Fresh bread and pastries, orange juice, and a lovely coffee started the meal off. Claire ordered the scrambled eggs, while I opted for the traditional Greek breakfast—eggs and wedges with crispy onions. Now, I’m usually a fry-up kind of guy, but I’ve got to admit, this was top-notch. The flavors were incredible, and I could have easily gone back for seconds
After breakfast, we headed to the Ikos Spa, where we had pre-booked our complimentary treatments (a perk of staying in Deluxe accommodation). Claire was in her element, but for me, I’d usually rather be by the pool or in the sea. However, surprisingly, I found myself enjoying it so much that I even dozed off and started snoring—much to Claire’s dismay! Needless to say, I was in the bad books on our first full day. Oops!
After the spa, we spent the rest of the morning at the Deluxe pool and bar area. This area isn’t adults-only, but it is exclusively for deluxe guests. We found a perfect sunbed, and the pool attendant promptly laid down fresh towels for us while also providing a jug of ice-cold water and glasses. I’ve got to say, the service at Ikos is second to none. Throughout the day, the staff struck the perfect balance—always attentive but never overbearing.
We spent the day lounging by the pool, enjoying the cocktails (this was the only day we had more than two alcoholic drinks), and sampling some poolside snacks. Everything was going smoothly until, out of nowhere, the heavens opened! We popped up the umbrella and sat there for about 30 minutes until the rain cleared. It didn’t dampen our spirits, though—we decided to check out the main pool and bar at the Sea Building, only a five-minute walk away.
On the way, we passed the gelaterie, and of course, it would have been rude not to stop and try some of the ice cream. Delicious! We spent the rest of the afternoon at the main pool, soaking up the views of the sea and enjoying the warm weather as it cleared up.
That evening, we dined at Fresco, Ikos Dassia’s Italian restaurant. I promised Claire I’d step out of my comfort zone and try something new, so I started with some fancy cheese balls, and for my main, I stuck to pizza (because, hey, you can never go wrong with pizza). Claire, on the other hand, went for squid ink pasta, which sounded a bit adventurous for me! For dessert, I went with the tiramisu, and Claire chose what was supposed to be an apple pie—but here’s where things got interesting.
Claire’s dessert wasn’t an apple pie at all but an apple crumble drenched in cinnamon and caramel. Now, apple crumble is my absolute favorite dessert, and I was immediately hit with food envy. My tiramisu was stunning, but after eyeing Claire’s dessert, I just had to have it. So, naturally, I ordered one for myself. I was so excited to dig in that I almost forgot to take a picture—Claire had to remind me just before I finished it!
Another day at Ikos Dassia, another fabulous dining experience in the books. After dinner, we headed back to our room to relax for the evening. We don’t tend to join in the evening entertainment at Ikos, and there’s a reason for that. Claire has chronic pancreatitis, and by late afternoon, she’s often in a lot of pain, even with medication. So, we prefer to make the most of our days and skip the evening activities, especially since we’re not big drinkers. A couple of glasses during the day is more than enough for us on holiday, and we’re perfectly happy with it that way.
Day 5: A Relaxing Sunday at Ikos Dassia
Sunday, May 12th—well, Sundays are made for relaxing, aren’t they? And that’s exactly what we did. The morning started early for me. I headed down to the beach around 7:30 AM for a peaceful walk along the shore at Ikos Dassia. But I had an ulterior motive—this was the perfect opportunity to give my drone its first Greek outing! I took it for a little test flight, capturing some stunning images and videos of the Ikos Dassia resort and the surrounding area. You can check out the video on our YouTube channel here.
After about 30 minutes of flying the drone, I headed back to wake Claire up, and it was time for breakfast. We opted for breakfast at the Steak and Grill, where they serve a fantastic buffet. This was tactical, as we had never been there for breakfast before, but also practical since we planned to spend the entire day swimming and sunbathing by the Deluxe pool area at Ikos Dassia.
Once again, the service at Ikos Dassia was incredible. I’ve got to give a special shout-out to the blonde lady by the pool who always had a smile on her face. I wish I’d remembered her name, but I’m hopeless with things like that. I promise next time I’ll take better note of these wonderful people! As for the drinks, I sampled a couple of cocktails before discovering they had Corona, which, being my favorite, I had to indulge in. And let me tell you, it tastes even better in the sun than it does back home in the UK.
The rest of the day was pure holiday bliss. We enjoyed poolside snacks, lazy swims, and a couple of phone calls home to family (mostly to make them jealous!). By late afternoon, we were fully in Ikos Dassia relaxation mode. The afternoon sun, the stunning views, and the incredible service—it doesn’t get much better than this.
Before we knew it, it was time to head back and get ready for the evening. We had reservations at Provence, the French à la carte restaurant at Ikos Dassia. However, as we returned to the room, Claire unfortunately had a flare-up of her pancreatitis. So, instead of going out for dinner, we decided to take full advantage of the room service, which, by the way, is another reason to love Ikos Dassia.
We spent the evening in our cozy Deluxe Junior Suite, finishing off Clarkson’s Farm on the iPad (hooked up to the TV, of course), watching a movie, and enjoying our room service in our pajamas. It might sound simple, but it was probably one of my most enjoyable nights. It felt like a mini sleepover—picking at food, snacks, and lounging in the comfort of our room. Sometimes, it’s the unplanned moments that make the best memories.
Day 6: A Beach Day at Ikos Dassia
Monday, May 13th was dedicated to the beach, and as part of our Deluxe experience at Ikos Dassia, we had access to a special section of the beach reserved just for Deluxe guests, complete with four-poster cabana-style beds. However, even though we had access to this exclusive area, we found that all the loungers on the beach were just as comfortable. There’s even an adults-only section a bit further down the beach, closer to Maria’s, where you can hire boats.
Once again, the service at the Ikos Dassia beach was outstanding—towels laid out on the beds, a constant supply of ice-cold water, and impeccable waiter service throughout the day. It’s everything you want and expect from a luxury experience at Ikos Dassia. As a sea lover, I grabbed my snorkel and mask and headed into the crystal-clear water. The temperature was surprisingly mild for May, especially compared to the freezing waters back home in Porthcawl (let’s just say, it’s much warmer here!).
Claire soon joined me in the water, and I was tasked with searching for “lost treasure” under the sea. We’re a bit silly and young at heart when it comes to things like this, but it’s all part of the fun. Off I went, pretending to be a treasure hunter, and to my surprise, I actually found something—no, not fish or shells, though there were plenty of those. I found a pair of sunglasses! Feeling like James Bond, I dove down, retrieved the sunglasses, and came up out of the water with my best Daniel Craig impression—water dripping from my hair as I shook it side to side. Of course, reality hit soon enough. Claire wasn’t impressed, especially when she saw they were Slazenger sunglasses and not Gucci. But hey, they’re still a treasure to me!
After spending the morning lounging by the beach, we decided to grab lunch at Ouzo, where they had a BBQ-style buffet. The food was, as always, delicious—though I didn’t snap any pictures this time. After our meal, I took a stroll down to Maria’s to see about hiring a boat for the next day. I’ve driven one of these boats several times, so I was comfortable with the idea, but Claire had never been on one before. So, naturally, I didn’t tell her all the details upfront!
While I was down there, I took Obi (our drone) for another flight. Obi observes everything from the sky (no, it’s not for anything inappropriate, before you ask!). I captured some more beautiful footage of Ikos Dassia and the surrounding area, which you can find on our YouTube channel.
The boat was booked for the next day, but in hindsight, I should have planned it better. You’ll understand why soon! After finalizing the boat plans, I broke the news to Claire, and let’s just say she wasn’t thrilled at first. I may have told a little white lie to get her on board, but don’t worry—it was harmless, and all was well by the end!
We spent the rest of the afternoon by the Deluxe pool at Ikos Dassia, relaxing and enjoying a few more cocktails before heading back to our room to get ready for the evening. Dinner was at Flavors, the buffet restaurant, followed by a short visit to the bar to watch a live band. The band was fantastic, and although we only stayed for an hour, it was a nice way to cap off the evening.
On our way back to the room, we stopped by reception to arrange our packed lunch and cool box for the boat trip. They assured us it would be ready and waiting on the boat in the morning. After all my “treasure hunting,” I was exhausted, and we were both ready to call it a night.
Day 7: Boat Hire Adventure at Ikos Dassia
Tuesday, May 14th was our much-anticipated boat hire day at Ikos Dassia, and we were up bright and early to make the most of it. After a quick breakfast at Ouzo (I had the same delicious breakfast as before), we headed down to Maria’s boat hire to pick up our boat for the day. There it was, fully fueled and packed with our cool box, just waiting for us to set off. Maria gave us a safety briefing and went over the map with us, and then it was time to get started. I had promised Claire that someone from Maria’s would join us on the boat—well, technically, I wasn’t lying. He stayed with us for the first 10 minutes, helping us practice stopping and mooring, but then he jumped off with a cheerful “Bon voyage,” and we were on our own.!
Before I go any further, let me explain why this was a case of bad planning on my part. I had already pre-booked a Tesla for Wednesday, followed by a dinner on the beach, and with Thursday being our last full day at Ikos Dassia, I wanted to film around the hotel. So, Tuesday was our only option for the boat hire. The issue? The weather wasn’t ideal. The sea was choppy, and Maria had warned us that a storm might be on the way. Of course, being the overly confident person I am, I brushed it off. I didn’t tell Claire about the storm warning until we were about a mile out at sea. Her reaction? Well, let’s just say it wasn’t exactly printable!
The outbound journey was smooth, though, and we followed Maria’s advice to head to Stefanos Bay—the furthest point we could go—and make our way back from there. We arrived at Stefanos Bay, moored up at the jetty, and stretched our legs with a quick coffee break. It was a lovely little seaside harbor, and though we didn’t explore much, it was a peaceful stop. After about half an hour, we decided to move on and head to the next cove, which we had spotted on the way up. It looked like the perfect place to anchor, get some sun, and send Obi the drone up for some footage.
This is where the day started to take a turn. While Claire was sunbathing, I was happily munching on a doughnut from our packed lunch—until I started choking on it. You know the kind of moment when something goes down the wrong way, and you can’t stop coughing? My eyes were watering, and Claire, true to form, sat there laughing at me, calling me dramatic. After I regained my composure, I sent Obi up into the air, capturing some beautiful aerial shots of the surrounding coast. Forty-five minutes later, it was time to move on, and we decided to head back toward the Blue Caves for a swim.
Just as I went to pull up the anchor, I realized it was stuck on some rocks. I knew what needed to be done, but Claire wasn’t convinced. After seeing the rope burns on my arm, she realized I wasn’t exaggerating. We had two options: cut the rope and lose the anchor or use the boat to maneuver it free. I opted for the latter. After some slow movements in reverse, we finally managed to free the anchor and were on our way again—just in time for the weather to take a serious turn.
Claire’s face said it all. She was sitting at the front of the boat, facing me, and within seconds, I heard the loudest clap of thunder. Now, I love a good thunderstorm—but not when I’m 40 minutes away from Ikos Dassia, in the middle of the sea! The sky turned black, the sea became rough, and waves started crashing over the boat. Claire wasn’t having a good time, and with each wave, she insisted it felt like we were hitting concrete. Meanwhile, I was standing, drenched but unfazed.
My idea was to head to the nearest jetty—about 10-15 minutes away—or back to Stefanos Bay. But Claire had other plans: she wanted off the boat and insisted we head straight back to Ikos Dassia. Just then, Maria called and advised us to head to the nearest jetty due to the bad storm. But no, Claire wasn’t having it—we were going back to the hotel. After a brief disagreement, she won, and we set course for Ikos Dassia. It felt like a scene out of a comedy sketch, with Claire shouting, “You’re going too fast!” or “You’re going too slow!” the whole way back.
Eventually, we made it back into the bay at Ikos Dassia, bypassing all the scenic spots I had wanted to visit. Maria and her team were waiting for us at the pier, and though the weather cleared up later, Claire wasn’t willing to go back out. On the bright side, she admitted she enjoyed the adventure and would be open to doing it again—provided the weather forecast is sunny, of course.
After returning the boat, we went for lunch at Kerkyra, a lovely Corfu-style restaurant at Ikos Dassia. The food was fantastic, and other than Steak and Grill, this quickly became my favorite dining spot. The sun reappeared, so we decided to check out the adults-only pool at the Sea Building. It was a great spot to relax—until the rain started again. So, we took shelter in the spa pool for a while, but it soon became crowded, so we headed back to the room to relax.
For dinner that evening, we dined at Anaya, the Asian à la carte restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, and you can see from the pictures below what we had. Another day at Ikos Dassia wrapped up in style!
Day 8: Tesla Adventure Day and a Surprise Reunion
Wednesday, May 15th—the day I had been waiting for all holiday. It was Tesla day at Ikos Dassia! I had been looking forward to this since we booked the trip. The only downside? It was the hottest day of the holiday, which made me wonder—why didn’t I plan the boat hire for today and the Tesla for yesterday? Bad planning on my part, but hey, I was about to drive a Tesla, so no complaints!
We started the day with breakfast at Flavors, the buffet restaurant conveniently located near the car hire desk. A little tip for anyone planning a similar adventure: go to the car hire desk the day before with your driving license to fill out the paperwork in advance—it saves time on the day. I’d never driven a Tesla before, but I’d read all about their gadgets and features over the past few months, and this was my chance to test them out for real. I love gadgets, and secretly, if I could have any car, it would be a Tesla.
Driving on the opposite side of the road isn’t an issue for me since I’m used to driving in France and the U.S. We left Ikos Dassia with no set plan, but we were given a list of recommended spots to visit. We picked one out of the hat—Sidari. Now, secretly, I was hoping to head to Kavos, the place of my first lads’ holiday when I was 16, but I didn’t mind—after all, I was driving a Tesla!
I spent the first part of the drive playing with all the Tesla gadgets—testing the sat nav, music, air con, and, of course, I had to try out the autopilot. Claire wasn’t too thrilled about me letting the car drive itself and spent most of the journey giving me the usual “keep your hands on the wheel” reminders (as she does even when I’m just driving to Tesco!). The autopilot was fascinating, though. It braked and accelerated on its own, and I was impressed—until I tried taking my hands off the wheel. The car beeped, flashed a warning, and disabled the autopilot, reminding me I wasn’t allowed to do that!
The drive to Sidari was stunning. The route took us over the hills and mountains of Corfu, offering spectacular views. We arrived in Sidari and parked up near the beach, where we found some loungers. However, to use them, you had to buy a drink from the nearby bar. Fair enough, I thought, until I realized a small Diet Coke and Sprite cost us €14! We only stayed for a short while, but it was enough time for me to send Obi (our drone) up into the air to capture some footage of the beach and surrounding area.
Here’s where the day got interesting. While I was fiddling with Obi, I spotted a familiar couple strolling down the beach—Huw and Sam! I turned to Claire and said, “That’s Huw and Sam walking along the beach,” and in true Welsh fashion, Claire replied, “Who’s Huw?”—just like Nicole’s ‘Who’s Emma?’ moment from Love Island! After a good laugh and a quick explanation, we approached them, had a chat for about 15-20 minutes, and let them enjoy the rest of their holiday. You can read about why using a travel agent, like C&M Travel, is such a good idea here.
After a bit of drone fun and beach time, we made a spontaneous decision to visit Ikos Odisia, another Ikos resort just a short drive from Ikos Dassia. We’ve never been there before, so it was a great chance to explore. We were allowed to eat at the Flavors restaurant at Ikos Odisia, and the buffet there was, as expected, outstanding. The variety of meats was insane—steak, chicken, ribs, burgers, pork—you name it, they had it. I left stuffed!
Not ready to head back just yet, we decided to make the most of the day and drive to Corfu Town. It’s about 25 minutes from Ikos Dassia, and though we had been warned that parking could be a nightmare, we found a spot with no problem. We spent about two hours wandering the streets, doing some shopping (picking up magnets and keyrings, of course), and stopping for a refreshing drink and ice cream at a café. All in all, it was a wonderful afternoon, and yes, I got to drive a Tesla!
That evening was something special. As part of the Deluxe package at Ikos Dassia, we had a dinner on the beach planned. This isn’t something you can book or pay extra for—it’s exclusive to Deluxe guests. I even organized a chauffeur (well, a golf cart) to take us down to the beach. It was all set to be a perfect date night, but just as we sat down to enjoy our starters, the heavens opened up. We were quickly rushed inside to Kerkyra, where we were seated and treated to champagne and wine. Despite the rain, it turned into a fantastic evening. We laughed with the other couples who had also been caught in the downpour and ended up meeting some lovely people from Ireland and a couple from Wales who were on their honeymoon.
Now, here’s the craziest part of the night—this Welsh couple on their honeymoon? It turns out the groom is the head chef at a local bistro we frequent, and, even more bizarre, his wife used to live in the same house my father currently lives in! We’re talking about a small Welsh village, Tonyrefail, where everyone knows everyone, so this was truly a “small world” moment. It’s stories like these that make travel so memorable.
After a wonderful day and evening, we headed back to the room, ready to recharge for our final full day at Ikos Dassia.
Day 9: A Rainy Farewell to Ikos Dassia
Thursday, May 16th—our last full day at Ikos Dassia. Sadly, Mother Nature had other ideas for our plans. We had set our sights on spending the day by the pool, but the rain had a different agenda. It poured from breakfast until around 2 PM, which meant our morning was spent relaxing indoors. We started the day with breakfast at Steak and Grill, one of our favorite spots, and then decided to head to the Sky Bar. While Claire enjoyed a quiet morning reading her book, I found myself captivated by the lightning show outside.
There’s something about lightning that fascinates me—it calms me down in a strange way, much like watching airplanes does. I can’t really explain it, but it’s one of those small things that brings me peace. While I watched the storm, I took the opportunity to film for our YouTube channel, capturing a full resort tour of Ikos Dassia. You can watch it here.
Finally, around 2 PM, the skies cleared, and we decided to make the most of the remaining sunshine. We headed to Ergon for lunch, which is conveniently located next to the adults-only pool. As always, the service at Ikos Dassia was impeccable. Fresh towels, ice-cold water, and non-alcoholic drinks flowed as we lounged by the pool, soaking up the last few hours of our holiday.
Before we knew it, it was time to head back to the room and get ready for our final dinner. We thought it only fitting to finish the holiday where we started—with another fantastic meal at Steak and Grill. More delicious steak, amazing food, and a nice bottle of red to share between us. It was the perfect end to an unforgettable holiday at Ikos Dassia.
Just before dinner ended, our concierge stopped by to give us some farewell gifts. Now, you may have noticed that I haven’t mentioned her at all throughout the blog—that’s because I’m saving a whole section just for her at the end. But I’ll give you a teaser here—she was amazing! We were given some Ikos hats, which I still have, and a bottle of olive oil, which, unfortunately, didn’t last long at home (but was delicious!).
As the evening came to a close, so did our Ikos Dassia holiday. We headed back to the room to start packing, although Claire, as always, was far ahead of me. I just did a quick “man check” and threw everything into the suitcase. We settled down, talked about our favorite moments from the trip, and began dreaming of our next holiday at Ikos Dassia.
Day 10: Home Time
Friday, May 17th—the time had come for us to head home. The week had flown by, and although we wished we had stayed for 10 nights, it was time to say goodbye. We had just enough time for one last breakfast, so we headed to Ouzo, where I had the same delicious meal as before. Trust me, it’s that good!
After breakfast, we made our way to the reception lobby. Our cases had already been collected and were waiting for us in the luggage room. We had one last drink, thanked the staff for yet another amazing luxury holiday, and soon enough, our bus arrived to take us to the airport. The drive was about 40 minutes, and getting through security was easy—though, of course, Claire set off the alarms again. This time, I remembered to take my drone out separately, so I had no issues.
After a quick look around duty-free, we headed to the gate, only to find that our flight was delayed by an hour due to fog in the UK. No big deal—we grabbed some food at Burger King and relaxed while we waited. We were in row 13 this time, and to our surprise, we had a spare seat next to us again! The seat gods must have been smiling down on us because this never happens once, let alone twice.
We made up good time on the flight and landed back at Heathrow. Straight through passport control, collected our luggage, and in no time, we were out of the terminal and into the lift where our car was waiting. I grabbed the keys, checked the car, and we were on our way back home to sunny South Wales.
What a holiday it was—what an experience and what an adventure! Until next time…
Holiday Recap: A Luxury Corfu Experience
Looking back on our incredible luxury Corfu holiday, it’s clear that from start to finish, every moment was truly unforgettable. From the moment we set off from Heathrow with British Airways, the excitement began. Our overnight stay at the Radisson Blu Edwardian was the perfect way to start our trip in style, setting the tone for what was to come.
Upon arrival at Ikos Dassia, it quickly became apparent why this resort stands out in every hotel review—the service, the attention to detail, and the luxury at every turn make it one of the best destinations for a luxury Corfu holiday. Whether we were enjoying a peaceful day by the pool, exploring Corfu’s stunning coastline on our boat hire, or driving through the breathtaking landscape in a Tesla, each experience was exceptional.
Of course, as travel agents, we’re always on the lookout for ways to make a holiday as seamless and enjoyable as possible. One of the highlights was our carefully planned Ikos Dassia itinerary. From breakfast at the Steak and Grill to evenings spent dining at fantastic restaurants like Kerkyra and Anaya, every meal was a delight. Not to mention the exclusive dinner on the beach as part of our deluxe package—an experience not to be missed!
Even when the weather wasn’t on our side, like during our rainy morning in the Sky Bar, the views of the lightning storm over Corfu were mesmerizing. Whether it was capturing footage with Obi the drone or simply taking in the views, our trip was full of unique moments that made this holiday unforgettable.
From the friendly staff at the Radisson Blu Edwardian to the impeccable service throughout our stay at Ikos Dassia, we couldn’t have asked for more from this luxury Corfu holiday. The only regret? Not staying longer! But that just gives us more reason to plan our next visit.
